NHM started in 2005 as a green field integrated broiler operation, clearing bush, developing water and electricity supplies, building infrastructure. In early 2006 a hatchery and feed mill became operational, in 2007 the first breeders were placed and in 2008 the abattoir was commissioned. In 2016 we produced 3,321 tons of frozen chicken, 6,311,360 day old chicks and 19,995 tons of poultry feed. The majority of our broilers are grown by a network of “integrados” in the communities around us
As we have developed we have been defining and refining our purpose, our “why?” as “unlocking potential”. We see our core strength as building agricultural value chains which synergise the strengths of commercial and family sector production. As such we focus our activities in agro industrial processing on the market and the input side and on holistic training for production. We talk about this as our 3 E’s
-EQUIP ( input)
In 2009 we were foundational in starting Communities of Fusion. This comprises of several independent entities that are in a voluntary but defined relationship with each other in working to impact the communities that we are part of. See for more information: Vimeo.Com/69552229
In 2017 we have taken on a very exciting partnership and new shareholder in Philafrica. This will strengthen our current base of operations in broiler production and resource it to grow in size and geographical locations. We are also looking forward to expanding our 3E model into other product categories in Mozambique.
